Notes Done Right

Some Notes
A lot of people got money who didn’t know what to do with it due to a past life of poverty.
-       Victorian era "hosted" the glut of consumerism
-       Aesthetic confusion is a term we need to keep in mind concerning design
-       Rococo design is French design from the 18th century comprised of more ornate and "creamy feel" designs. (French design)
-       Chromolithography is printing with a colored stone (chroma = color)
-       Ephemera – things that are produced not for art, but for function
-
Capitalism sucks. There is a downside to capitalism. He discusses the social side of commerce.
-       You can’t take down the system as an outsider.
-       William Morris most known for his textile designs. Incredible overachiever. Reignited book arts. Carved in wood logos and art pieces for printing. Famous for his intricate book designs.
-       Types of fonts used at the time and still throughout today: Golden, Black Letter, and Condensed
   Thoughts
I feel as though graphic design is really starting to shape as it's own art around this time period. People are beginning to specialize in it, form opinions, do research, make mistakes etc. It becomes more of a conscientious effort in posters, book designs, and the intricacies within the designs themselves.
   Questions
I want to see how much of an influence these designs still have in today's advertisements and modern design with so much of what is sexy and bold, where are it's roots in this old style? I also want to see what areas of the planet have the most influence on today's design.
